After 25 years of teaching experience, working with some of the world’s best golf instructors and attending coaching summits across the continents, Harro can now define his teaching style as KISS – Keep it Super Simple.
Harro listens to clients’ wishes, explores their previous experiences, looks at their personal motor skills and athletic ability, discovers their motivation and the practice time (and budget) they have at their disposal to create a path to a better or more enjoyable round of golf. Pleasant simplicity replaces unnecessary technical mumbo jumbo.
Experience has taught Harro that progress in golf doesn’t need to be slow, and neither does it have to be fuelled by complex information and rules. He likes to remind his clients that golf is not an academic or intellectual activity, it is a sport, and they’re better off “doing it” rather than “thinking it”.
Harro tailor-makes each client’s golf programme to ensure the best results and uses everything from video analyses to physical screening whilst always remembering to “KISS”. .
Harro’s professional career began at Brunssumerheide Golf (Brunssum, Netherlands), where at just 15 years old he took a summer job as a groundsman. The golf professionals quickly recognized his talent and, after a period of training, took him under their wing, making him a full member of the team. His charisma, professionalism, and affability, despite his youth, soon impressed the students. In 1992, at only 22 years old, he became the youngest professional golfer in the Netherlands. Full of talent and enthusiasm, that same year Harro left for Spain in search of new horizons for his personal and professional growth; Andalusia seemed to him to be the best golf resort in Europe, and he decided to stay in the area. He immediately joined the team at La Quinta Golf & Country Club (Marbella),
helping to found what would become the first Golf Academy on the Costa del Sol and improving his game under
the watchful eye of Manuel Piñero, one of Spain’s most outstanding and successful golfers, with 12
professional victories.
Three years later, in 1995, Harro joined the International Golf Academy at Atalaya Golf & Country Club (Estepona), working in collaboration with the prestigious five-star Las Dunas Beach Hotel & Spa as their exclusive professional.
In 2001, Harro was promoted to Director of Golf and Director of Instruction at Montemayor Golf & Country Club,
a position he held until 2010, when he joined the newly formed American Golf Academy,
where he managed the academy and the Tramores course, part of Los Flamingos Golf, sede to the exquisite five-star Villa Padierna Palace Hotel.
In 2012, Harro decided it was the right time to create his own golf school. Since then, he has offered a wide international clientele the opportunity to learn, practice, or play on the world-prestige golf courses in the area between Mijas Costa and Sotogrande, communicating in four different languages: English, Dutch, German, and Spanish.
With over 30 years of teaching experience, working with some of the best golf instructors in Europe and continuously training and attending international courses, Harro can now define his teaching style as KISS. Keep it super simple
